Gov. Nixon announces $12 million to Missouri S&T renovations
ROLLA - Gov. Jay Nixon announced more than $12 million in renovations and improvements for Missouri University of Science and Technology on Wednesday.
Missouri S&T plans to use the funds to repair and improve Schrenk Hall, a building that houses classrooms, teaching and research laboratories and departmental offices for chemistry and biological classes.
Building Affordability, a component of Build Missouri, helped fund this initiative. The initiative was proposed by Gov. Nixon in collaboration with public colleges and universities, and will provide $200 million to higher education campuses across the state.
"This $200 million investment by the state will help colleges and universities modernize and improve facilities without raising tuition to cover the costs," said Gov. Nixon.
Build Missouri also includes bond proceeds for repairs and renovations at veterans homes, state parks and a new mental hospital in Fulton.
