WARRENSBURG - Gov. Jay Nixon signed legislation Sunday that provides funding to public elementary and secondary schools. The bill invests 3.009 billion into elementary and secondary schools for 2013, which is record funding.

Nixon called for record funding for Missouri schools during his January State of the State Address, saying funding is key to the next generation's success.

According to the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, while Missouri increased funding for public school classrooms in fiscal year 2012, 30 other states provided less funding for education than they did in 2008.
