Government Dollars Make Greener State Capital
JEFFERSON CITY - The Millbottom area of town used to be a vibrant neighborhood but now it's just parking lots.
Rampant flooding in the 80's and 90's made the area undesirable for development but some government funds could change that.
The goal is to develop the flood-prone area in a sustainable way.
Jefferson City is one of five U.S. capital cities picked to take part in the "Greening America's Capitals" program.
The program is a joint effort between the EPA, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and U.S. Department of Transportation.
