Government Shutdown Delayed 156 Plane Deliveries
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A report says the partial shutdown of the federal government in October delayed 156 airplane deliveries worth $1.9 billion.
The U.S. Office of Management and Budget says in its report that the 16-day shutdown delayed deliveries and the sale of aircraft because aircraft registration was shut down for the duration.
OMB estimates the U.S. economy suffered in all a loss of between $2 billion and $6 billion in lost output as a result of the shutdown.
The Wichita Eagle reported that for the aviation industry, the shutdown came at a bad time. That is because the fourth quarter is usually the busiest time of the year for aircraft shipments.
