SHELBYVILLE - Governor Nixon voiced his support for an oil pipeline that would run from Flanagan, Illinois to Cushing, Oklahoma and cross 11 Missouri counties, including Shelby.
The Flanagan South Pipeline Project proposed by Enbridge, Inc. would bring a potential $1.9 billion in investment along the route, the Governor said in a news release. Nixon stressed the skilled construction jobs and community growth that comes from such a project.
Enbridge will determine the final size and scope of the project after February 10, when the period for potential customers to commit to a certain capacity concludes.
Current plans call for construction to begin in mid-2013, with the pipeline beginning service in the middle of 2014.
