Guilty Verdict in Camden County Double Murder
The jury began deliberating Thursday, and returned the guilty verdicts just after 4:30 p.m. Friday. Wolfe robbed and killed an elderly Greenview couple in 1997, but the Missouri Suprme Court overturned his original Camden County conviction and death sentence in 2003.
This time, a jury from Platte County convicted Wolfe despite his lawyer's argument that the state's key witness wasn't credible.
"We will begin phase two of this case now," said Bruce Tepikian. "We will present evidence as to why this jury should consider life without the possibility of parole as punishment for Mr. Wolfe, and then we will appeal the verdict of this jury."
The penalty phase of the trial starts Saturday in the Camden County Courthouse. Prosecutors said they won't comment until the trial is over.
