HALLSVILLE - Hallsville schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning.
Superintendent John Robertson said that it was a level one lockdown and it was only a precaution.
A source inside the school told KOMU 8 News the lockdown started after a person with a mental illness threatened to harm kids who attend the Hallsville schools. Authorities and school officials could not confirm that.
Robertson said it was a policy to have the doors locked throughout the school day.
School officials said the students are safe.
Editor's note: This story has been corrected to indicate that the person that allegedly threatened to harm kids was not a father of children who attend Hallsville Schools.
