Hay Shortage Hits Home for Horses
Jeff O'Laughlin sells hay for a living, but he's heading north to buy several bales.
"To help onset my loses, so I can hopefully have enough for the customers who come to me," he explained. "The cold has put those grasses to sleep and they're going to have to feed hay."
Jim Dudley also went looking for hay to feed to his mares.
"A lot of people with hay have animals of their own and they don't want to fall short in winter," he added.
Dudley put out his last hay bale for his horses two days ago, expecting it to last until next Monday.
"I suppose in January and February it is going to get tough around here, that's my speculation," he said. "That's why I'm out today trying to line something up."
