HOWARD COUNTY - Missouri Highway Patrol troopers are pursuing inmates from Pettis County Jail who escaped while being transferred, according to the warden at the Boonville Correctional Center.
The Pettis County Sheriff's office told KOMU 8 three inmates, two males and one female, escaped by overpowering an officer involved in the transport. The office said troopers caught one of the males and the female and have the other male cornered in a field off Highway 87, but have not apprended him yet.
The third inmate is a white male, 5-foot-9 inches tall, about 200 pounds and wearing a grey jail jumpsuit. The Pettis County Sheriff's office said he may be armed.
Troopers are currently searching in Howard County near Boonville.
