Highway Patrol promotes new assistant superintendent
JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri State Highway Patrol announced Friday it was promoting Major Eric Olson to Lieutenant Colonel. Olson will also assume the role of assistant superintendent.
According to a Highway Patrol news release, Olson will oversee the Professional Standards Division and Public Information and Education Division.
Olson joined the Highway Patrol in 1990 as a patrol officer in Northwest Missouri. In July 2014, he was appointed commanding officer of Troop A before becoming the director of the Division of Drug & Crime Control in May 2015. Since the start of 2017, Olson has been based out of Jefferson City as the commander of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
Olson is from Chillicothe, Missouri. He successfully completed the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, in June 2011.
