(AP) -- For the second time this month, northeast Missouri is cleaning up after a massive storm. Rural Monroe County was hardest hit in storms Wednesday night and yesterday morning. Two people were killed near Paris when high winds -- possibly a tornado -- struck their mobile home. Other parts of Missouri also had damage from tornadoes and high winds. On October second, several tornadoes touched down in northeast Missouri. Palmyra was hardest hit when a tornado ripped through downtown, damaging stores and a church. The National Weather Service predicts cooler temperatures but calmer weather for today, before temperatures rise back into the upper 70s and perhaps low 80s for the weekend.OBIT-YOUNG Funeral Mass Monday for longtime congressman ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A funeral Mass is scheduled for Monday morning for longtime Congressman Robert Young the Third of St. Louis. Young died Wednesday at age 83. The Democrat represented the Second Congressional District in St. Louis from 1977 to 1987. A downtown federal building is named after him. Before being elected to Congress, Young served in the state legislature. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Collier's Funeral Home in Bridgeton. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Maryland Heights.HANNIBAL INN Landmark hotel expected to reopen next spring in Hannibal HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) -- A well-known hotel in the popular northeast Missouri tourist town of Hannibal is expected to reopen as early as next spring. Al Patel bought the Hannibal Inn and Conference Center earlier this month at an auction. The inn's previous owners had financial troubles and closed it in May. Patel says he is shooting for a reopening in March or April. In the meantime, Patel says he plans a significant remodeling. The inn was for many years the host of Missouri Democrat Days, a winter event that typically draws big-name Democrats, including presidential contenders.UNSOLVED ACCIDENT Authorities still seek suspect in fatal hit-and-run PALMYRA, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to seek the suspect whose hit-and-run accident killed a man in a rural area of northeast Missouri. The accident in Marion County happened September 29th. The patrol says 39-year-old Chip Wyrde of St. Louis was on a U.S. 24 exit ramp when he was struck and killed.
