History Sometimes Repeats Itself
Two wins is all the Tigers need to capture the second Big 12 Title in Mizzou's history. The Tigers are going to have to earn the championship because Nebraska is in town and Mizzou hasn't swept the Cornhuskers since 1999.
In the top of the second, Missouri pitcher Jen Bruck gets the strikeout.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, Tigers Ali Kennewell gets hit by the pitch and scores a run 1-0.
In the bottom of the fourth, Andee Allen hit to left-centerfield. Kathy Masterson shoots one to right-center for a two-run homer, putting Mizzou on top 3-0.
Sarah Stringer smacks a two-run homerun to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead, which would be the final score. Missouri faces Nebraska Sunday afternoon at one for the Big 12 Championship.
"We're happy to be in this position. I told them after the game, when they go home tonight, I want them to eat the same food they always eat, sleep in the same bed, do all the same things you always do to prepare, and try not to make it any different than any other day," said Coach Earleywine.
"After this game, I don't think I'm going to feel any pressure tomorrow. I think it's going to be just like another game, a little more emotional afterwards, but before I'm going to try and act like it's just another game," said second baseman Sarah Stringer.
"By the crowd, it was definitely not just another game. Mentally and for all of us we just took it as another game, another win we had to go get," added pitcher.
