Hogan Prep Takes Down Strafford for Boys Class 3 State Championship

COLUMBIA (AP) -- Broderick Newbill scored 17 points to lead a balanced attack as Hogan Prep Academy defeated Strafford 61-46 in the Missouri Class 3 boys' state championship game Saturday.

The Rams (23-8) went on an 11-3 run late in the first half to go up 12 at halftime and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way. The title is the first in school history.

Maurice Mason added 12 points and two other players finished with nine. Hogan Prep finished the game 7 of 13 from behind the arc.

Jared Yarberry and Anthony Peters each scored 12 points to lead the Indians (27-4), which shot just 34 percent, including 1 of 11 from 3-point range.
