Homes Being Knocked Down To Move MoDOT Plan Along
JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission approved an application Wednesday night to demolish a block of homes at Lafayette and Miller Streets. Quinn Chapel will be moving to this plot of land to vacate land MoDOT wants for highway expansion.
Commission President Cathy Bordner said the church wants to move to the land where the historic homes are because, "they wanted to remain close to Lincoln University and downtown Jefferson City." The demolition was run by the Historic Preservation Commission because the homes are all more than 50 years old. Bordner says that there was no opposition to the demolition during Wednesday's meeting.
