COLUMBIA - Central Missouri Honor Flight #14 will arrive back in Columbia about 9:45 pm Tuesday.  About 110 passengers are scheduled to take the trip to Washington, DC to see their memorial.  They leave about 3:00 am Tuesday and arrive back in Columbia about 9:45 pm Tuesday at the Courtyard by Marriott off Highway 63/AC exit. Central Missouri Honor Flight riders will escort the buses from Kingdom City to Columbia. Honor Flight is an organization that flies aging veterans to see their memorials at no cost to them. Since it started in 2009, the Central Missouri hub has provided airfare, meals and surprise experiences for about 800 veterans.  The all-volunteer group started with the help of KOMU viewers' financial support. If you'd like information on how to apply or adopt a veteran for a Central Missouri Honor Flight, please visit the Central Missouri Honor Flight Website or call (573) 256-1930.  Organizers say wheelchairs and walkers are welcome. Please tell a World War II veteran now about this free program. The trips take frequent restroom breaks, travel with a medical team and have trained guardians to assist veterans on the flight.
