Hotel Construction Causes Concern
Not all lake area residents support a developer's plan to build a luxury hotel on one acre there.
Developer Dan Foster says the area is the best site for his 12-story hotel at the lake's 28-and-a-half mile marker.
"We have a 250-unit hotel," he added. "It's a combination of hotel suites and living suites."
Foster started the project five years ago, but he's still waiting for approval from the local planning and zoning department.
Property owners like Jerry Stoliar and other residents at St. Moritz Estates signed a petition along with 400 other people to stop construction. They worrya high-rise next to their property will change the area's non-commercial atmosphere.
"When we bought here, it was the peaceful lake that really caught our attention," Stoliar explained.
But Foster, who is a native of the area, said he will maintain its natural state. He originally planned to build a 24-story hotel.
