House Redistricting Committee Approves of New District Lines
JEFFERSON CITY - The House Redistricting committee approved redrawn congressional district lines. This comes less than one week after the new House map was introduced by Committee Chair John Diehl.
Missouri's census results are forcing the state to eliminate one district.
The two counties most affected are Jackson County (right outside of Kansas City), and Jefferson County, which is right outside of St. Louis. Jefferson County specifically would be divided among three separate counties.
The loss of the congressional district would drop Missouri from nine districts to eight.
The Committee voted 10 - 1, with the lone vote against the new map being from Democratic Representative Ron Casey from Crystal City. The new map now heads to the House floor.
