I-29 in NW Mo. Shut Down by Serious Accident
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - A major accident involving several vehicles has closed down northbound lanes of Interstate 29 near St. Joseph.
Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe says the accident early Thursday caused some deaths and injured several others. It happened about four miles south of Interstate 229 in St. Joseph. Traffic is being re-routed at Faucett.
Video from the scene shows a passenger van slammed into the back of a semi-trailer truck. The front half of the van is completely destroyed. Video also shows the backup behind the accident is more than a mile long.
Lowe says three trucks and two passenger vehicles were involved in the accident.
