Michigan's Meryl Davis and Charlie White, 2010 Olympic silver medalists, face training mates and rivals Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada, reigning Olympic champions. The two teams train at the same rink under the same coach, and have traded off the world title for the past four years. Davis and White enter Sochi as the reigning world champions. After the short dance, Davis and White are in first place, closely followed by Virtue and Moir.

Seth Wescott, the only Olympic champion since snowboard cross joined the program in Torino, did not make the U.S. team after an April knee injury, so seven-time X Games champion Nate Holland, who was a bitter fourth in Vancouver, will lead the strong American effort.

Eigtheen-year-old Mac Bohonnon will represent the U.S., as he and the other aerialists try to keep pace with the immensely talented Chinese team.

Reigning four-man Olympic champ Steven Holcomb, who overcame a degenerative eye condition that nearly cost him his sight to win gold in Vancouver, attempts to pilot his way to the first U.S. Olympic medal in the two-man since 1952. Driving a new, high-tech sled, the 33-year-old from Park City currently has the top American sled in third.
