Ice Pads Roofers' Pocketbooks
Mitzi Marshall called Vaughn when she noticed a leak above her home's entrance.
"This recent snow has exacerbated the damage apparently," she said, "so we have need for more repair."
There is a protective covering that prevents ice dams, but builders have to add them while a house is under construction, and most Missouri homes don't have them.
"You can keep your gutters free of snow and ice," Vaughn recommended. "It's very hard to do once they get hard, though."
Vaughn said the only time he sees ice dams is after severe snow storms. He said the only way to repair the damage is to replace your roof, but most of the time the damage is only cosmetic so you don't have to worry about structural problems.
