BOONE COUNTY - The 2012 Impaired Waters List is now available for pubic review and comment, and Boone County has several waterways on the report.
In total, 342 Missouri waterways made the list for polluted waters. 13 of those are in Boone County. The list reports that Hinkson Creek has a 18-mile-long stretch of water polluted with E. Coli while seven other Boone County creeks have between one and nine miles of E.Coli-polluted water. Those creeks are Bass, Bonne Femme, Gans, Grindstone, Hominy Branch, Little Bonne Femme and Turkey Creeks.
Two Boone County lakes - A. Perry Philips Lake and Lake of the Woods - also made the list for containing fish with high levels of mercury in their systems.
