Infant dies, 2 other children badly hurt in St. Louis fire
ST. LOUIS (AP) — An infant is dead and two other children are injured following a house fire in St. Louis.
The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday on the city's north side. Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson says firefighters learned people were trapped inside the multi-family home that was already engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.
The body of the infant was found on the second floor. Firefighters rescued two boys ages 1 and 3. Both suffered smoke inhalation. The 3-year-old is in critical condition, the 1-year-old in serious condition.
Names of the infant who died and the injured children have not been released. Six adults in the home escaped without serious injury.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
