ST. LOUIS (AP) - A pit bull puppy that survived being dragged down a St. Louis interstate is drawing international attention.
KSDK-TV reports the Humane Society of Missouri has received at least 1,000 inquiries from people seeking to adopt the dog.
Rescuers have dubbed him Trooper, and he's getting cards and treats from as far away as Afghanistan and Australia. His Facebook page has more than 12,000 followers.
Officials believe a 41-year-old woman tried to return Trooper to her ex-husband by having her 13-year-old son tie the puppy to a pickup truck on Nov. 20. The pickup driver didn't see the puppy and began driving down Interstate 55. The woman faces misdemeanor charges.
The Humane Society says Trooper is still healing and won't be available for adoption for four to six weeks.
