Investigations Continue After Infant Found Dead in Duffel Bag
HIGBEE - Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed that officers were dispatched Sunday night to investigate the death of a newborn infant two miles west of Higbee. Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols told KOMU the baby was found dead in a duffle bag by a homeowner floating in a pond.
The exact cause of death is unknown at this time. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control have been called to assist with the investigation. The body has been taken to the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office where an autopsy will be conducted.
Anyone who may have any information regarding the infant, or who possibly observed any suspicious activity in the Route H area, is asked to contact the Randolph County Sheriff's Department at (660) 277-5095. The investigation is on-going by the Randolph County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Randolph County Coroner.
