Jamauhle Brown Charged With Murdering Michael Smith in 2010
SEDALIA - Sedalia Police revealed on Thursday that Jamauhle D. Brown was charged with the murder of Michael Smith, which happened over a year ago in Sedalia.
Brown is fully being charged with: Murder in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, Burglary in the First Degree, Committing a Felony in Furtherance of Street Gang Activity, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Felonious Possession of a Firearm. Police said this was not the first time the two men met. Family and friends at the conference say there was an encounter that happened two weeks prior to the murder. This encounter included Smith's car being shot at. Police are still unsure of Brown's possible motives.
"The victim was with a known opposing gang of Mr. Brown's and that could provide us an insight to his motivation," Sergeant Matt Wirt said.
Family and friends believe that were others involved with the murder, and officials are not ruling others out either. Brown is currently being held in the Pettis County Jail and his court date is still undecided.
