JCPD: Man dies after stabbing in Jefferson City
JEFFERSON CITY - A Jefferson City man died after a stabbing Tuesday night, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.
According to the JCPD Capt. Doug Shoemaker, police responded at 7:15 p.m. to a disturbance call at the Dulle-Hamilton Towers on Jackson Street, which is off East State Street.
When officers arrived, they found a group of people, including the suspect and a man with a stab wound. Cole County EMS took the victim, a 46-year-old from Jefferson City, to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
JCPD detectives learned the victim and the suspect were at the apartment complex to visit people they knew. Police said during that time, a fight broke out, and the victim stabbed the suspect.
Officers took the suspect, also a Jefferson City man, into custody. He was being held at the Cole County Jail Tuesday night.
Shoemaker said officers did not know the suspect's motive but would continue to speak to more witnesses.
