Jefferson City Car Wash Benefits Joplin Disaster Relief
JEFFERSON CITY - More than sixty children and a dozen adults worked through the heat Wednesday to wash cars at Trinity Lutheran Church. More than $300 was raised during the five hour car wash. All proceeds from the event go to the Joplin Disaster Relief Fund.
Kristen Myers, a Holts Summit resident, said she came to visit her daughter and also contribute to a good cause. "Anything to help Joplin, they need it," she said.
Nicole Sanning, director of the event, said the car wash is an annual event for the Trinity Lutheran Church camp. The camp chose to donate this year's proceeds to the Joplin Disaster Relief Fund because one of its campers had been displaced during the tornado.
"His house is completely gone," Sanning said.
More than 35 cars showed up for the event, which lasted until 1 P.M.
