Jefferson City Council Names New City Administrator
JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City City Council appointed Steven S. Crowell as city administrator in a closed session Tuesday evening. Crowell will officially start on March 10, 2014.
According to a news release from the council, Crowell has spent 30 years in municipal management positions. He recently served as city manager in St. Mary's, Ga.
"... We have found a true professional in Steven Crowell and we welcome him to Jefferson City. Steve has the education and experience we are looking for to lead our city staff," Mayor Eric Struemph said in a news release.
The council started recruitment to fill the position in September of 2013. The nationwide search produced 67 applicants. The selection committee interviewed candidates and unanimously chose Crowell. The mayor nominated and appointed Crowell as city administrator with the advice and consent of a majority of the council.
