LAFOURCHE PARISH, LOUISIANA - Lafourche Parish sheriff's deputies said Thursday a Jefferson City couple is facing attempted murder and other charges in connection with a recent string of shootings in the parish. Lafourche Parish is southwest of New Orleans near Houma.

Deputies arrested Justin Rice 26, and Christina Higgins 35, Tuesday in Golden Meadow, Louisiana.

Deputies said the couple has been linked to multiple shooting incidents. In the first incident, the department said the couple shot at a woman in her vehicle. Deputies said they shot from their green SUV.

The couple is also accused of shooting at a man in his vehicle who approached the couple. Deputies said Rice and Higgins drove away but then stopped to fire a few more rounds at the victim. Detectives investigated the incident and learned the vehicle had a Missouri license plate.

On Tuesday, deputies spotted the suspect vehicle. When deputies got to the suspects they noticed 9 millimeter shell casings in the vehicle. Through investigation, detectives discovered Rice had an active warrant for probation and parole in Missouri.

Rice and Higgins were in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux as of noon Thursday. Rice is charged with attempted second degree murder and two counts of aggravated criminal damage property with a $100,000 bond. Higgins is charged with principle to all three charges and has a bond set at $40,000.
