Jefferson City Fire Department responds to 2 alarm apartment fire
JEFFERSON CITY - The Jefferson City Fire Department responded Sunday to a 2-alarm fire at an apartment in the 600 Block of Linn St.
According to a press release, firefighters who first arrived on the scene determined the fire was coming from apartment unit B and soon after, they located the fire inside a bedroom of that unit and contained the fire just to that room.
The department says the fire appears to have started on a bed in the room and as a result, the building did suffer smoke damage.
The Red Cross responded to the scene to provide assistance to those affected by the fire.
The department also says they've responded to many other incidents throughout the day, including some illegal burning. They remind residents that burning season is over and will not resume until November 1, 2015.
