Jefferson City home catches fire while residents away
JEFFERSON CITY — A home in Jefferson City caught fire Sunday night while the people living there were away.
The Jefferson City Fire Department says it responded to a report of a burning building on Starling Drive around 11:00 p.m.
When the first crew arrived, they found smoke coming from several sides of a single-story home.
Initial reports from neighbors indicated the residents were still at home. Firefighters searched the building while battling the fire, but found no one inside.
Firefirghters got the fire under control within 15 minutes, and stayed on site for a total of three hours.
The fire damaged a bedroom, while other areas of the home were damaged by smoke.
