Jefferson City man pleads guilty to child pornography charges
JEFFERSON CITY - A Jefferson City man pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of child pornography.
Prosecutors said 34-year-old Dustin Clay Trail pleaded guilty to receiving and attempting to distribute child pornography over the Internet.
U.S. Attorney Tammy Dickinson said, by pleading guilty, Trail admitted he got child pornography over the Internet on Sept. 3, 2013 and tried to distribute it over the Internet on Sept. 4, 2013. Dickinson said Trail also admitted to having child pornography in his possession from May 2013 to Oct. 31, 2013.
Dickinson said the investigation started in May 2013, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children got a report about child pornography being sent by e-mail. She said authorities searched Trail's home and took a desktop computer, three hard drives and compact discs.
Dickinson said Trail could be sentenced to between five years in prison without parole and up to 50 years in federal prison without parole, plus a fine up to $750,000.
Dickinson said a sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the United States Probation Office finishes a pre-sentence investigation.
