JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Medical Group will offer a clinic for flu shots Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The clinic will give vaccinations to all JCMG patients age 6 months through adult. Both shots and FluMist will be offered and a high dose vaccine will be provided to patients 65 and older.

Boone County's shipment of the injectable vaccine has been delayed. The county offers the FluMist option but will be under a shortage until November 1st when the shipment comes in.

Dr. Afsheen Patel from JCMG said, "We're introducing our flu clinic that we've made available for the community, and we will extend that to surrounding communities as well. The goal is to get the community vaccinated and prevent the spread. Our goal is children and elderly but to keep them protected we really need to vaccinate everybody."

Patel said she thinks people who live in the shortage areas will come out to the clinic.

"I think they're very well informed, so when they see that shortage, they're going to come in here to get their vaccine," Patel said.

No appointments are necessary and patients need to bring an insurance card. The clinic will also be held October 28 and November 4, in the family medicine area.
