Jefferson City Police Arrest Man in DWI Hit-and-Run Accident
JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Police arrested a Webster Groves man early Sunday morning after he hit a police vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. At about 2 a.m. 23-year-old Cory V. Ingram was speeding while traveling southbound from Locust street when he ran a stop sign and collided with a Jefferson City Police vehicle.
Ingram fled the scene of the accident but police caught him a few blocks away. Police arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident - a felony charge -, 2nd degree assault, driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, and failing to stop at a stop sign. The accident significantly damaged both cars. Ingram was not hurt while medics took the police officer to St. Mary's Emergency Room and treated the officer for non-life threatening injuries.
Ingram's blood alcohol content was .187 and he is being held in the Cole County Jail pending formal charges.
