Jennings mayor impeachment process continues
JENNINGS - A dozen counts of impeachment have been dropped against the mayor of a St. Louis County town, but seven charges remain.
The Jennings City Council on Tuesday reduced the number of counts against Mayor Yolonda Fountain-Henderson. KTVI-TV reports it was the third meeting on the impeachment process.
Fountain-Henderson is accused of having a city employee cut locks to copy closed records before they could be redacted. She also allegedly directed a city clerk to write a check for an attorney to represent the city in a legal fight over a Missouri Senate bill. Another charge takes exception with her executive order suspending two city council members.
The mayor says the charges are politically motivated and there are no city policies in place regarding many of the accusations.
