JOPLIN - After nine months of plotting and planning, a book which describes KOMU 8 News coverage of the Joplin tornado, is for sale at Amazon Books. All proceeds from the book sales go to the group Rebuild Joplin, which still needs $500,000 for building homes.

News Anchor Jim Riek and former KOMU 8 Meteorologist Michelle Bogowith are the co-authors of "Joplin: Our Words, Our Stories, Their Hope."

Jim and Michelle made 39 combined trips to Joplin in the one year following the tornado.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon wrote the foreword and commends every member of the KOMU 8 News team for their dedication and professionalism and for stories the state will never forget.

Jim and Michelle weren't alone in writing the book. About two dozen former KOMU 8 News reporters who also made trips to Joplin offered their stories as well. As told in chronological order, the many contributors recall their vivid memories of Joplin.
