Jobless Bill Extends Benefits for Missourians
The labor department must now wait for the Federal Bank's guidance on its next actions, but if we take a look at the bill we can get a general idea of how the extension will work.
The bill extends the deadline to file for the emergency unemployment compensation from 2008 to November 30. The program has been extended multiple times now. It would also extend the extended benefit program to the same date.
The bill will also work retroactively by paying claims to people whose benefits have been exhausted since June 2. That date is the previous deadline for the benefits.
The labor department says it will notify potential eligibile Missourians in the coming weeks. That also depends on how quick the federal government can communicate guidance to the state.
