KANSAS CITY - Eight-year veteran Jon Jay will be headed to the Kansas City Royals for the upcoming season.

Jay only played one year in Chicago. His contract there was $8 million.

In his time with the Cubs, Jay batted .358 and had a .435 on base percentage in his 62 appearances at the plate. He also hit .325 as a pinch hitter.

According to Bleacher Report, the Royals signed the outfielder Tuesday to a one-year deal. He will receive $3 million in salary earnings and an additional $1.5 million available in performances bonuses, the report said.
