Joplin Group Helps Sell, Buy Unused Items
JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) - A Joplin woman's idea to start a Facebook group to buy and sell used items is growing in popularity.
Kinsey Schultz started Joplin Give & Take on Facebook in January. It now has more than 10,000 members and is growing every month. Schultz has three administrators to help run the site.
On most Saturdays, Schultz and about 20 others can be found at an empty lot near a Wal-Mart Supercenter looking over each other's items.
The Joplin Globe reports police warn those who use Joplin Give & Take to be careful of shady deals or criminals.
Schultz says there's been only one case so far of someone selling a stolen item. She says administrators have several rules that weed out potentially troublesome people.
