Joplin jail inmate who fled last week captured
JOPLIN (AP) — A Joplin jail inmate has been captured after fleeing from a detention officer.
The Joplin Globe reports that Carl Junction police located 20-year-old Mark Taylor in a residential crawl space Saturday and returned him to Joplin police. Taylor fled Thursday while taking the jail's trash to an outside bin. His clothes were discarded in a park.
A city news release said he was considered low risk and allowed to take the trash out while supervised.
Joplin police say Taylor was serving 22 days on Joplin city warrants for driving without a license, domestic assault, trespassing and obstruction. He also had two Carthage city warrants for theft and trespassing.
Police said a charge would be sought against him for the escape. It wasn't immediately known if he had an attorney.
