JOPLIN (AP) - Joplin residents are planning a rally of support for members of the Islamic Society of Joplin, whose mosque was destroyed in a suspicious fire this week.

The Joplin Globe reports that the rally is planned for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Landreth Park.

The FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Joplin agencies are investigating the cause of the fire, which occurred early Monday. No injuries were reported but the building was destroyed.

Ashley Carter, a student at Ozark Christian College, is helping organize the rally. She said the idea originated when she began discussing ways to help the Islamic Society with her friends. She says several bands in the community have agreed to perform and more details are being worked out.
