Joplin Stylist Gives Out Haircuts to 400 Students
JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) -- A hair stylist whose shop was destroyed by the May 22 tornado in Joplin said he wanted to do something to help his community recover from the devastation.
So on Sunday Kevin Lane, owner of Hairbenders Salon, and his stylists helped 400 students get ready for the new school year by providing free haircuts. They teemed with Matrix, which makes hair products, for the event.
The Joplin Globe reports that a long line of people waited in high temperatures for the haircuts.
Lane said the event was a good way to serve the community. And he wanted to let his customers know that he plans to rebuild his destroyed studio. His business currently is working out of the former Vatterott College Cosmetology School.
