Joseph Cooper Arrested for Allegedly Robbing Breaktime Armed
JEFFERSON CITY - Jefferson City Police arrested Joseph Cooper, 21, of Jefferson City, on Saturday for allegedly robbing the Breaktime on West Main Street on Thursday, just after midnight.
The Jefferson City Police Department said Cooper forcibly opened a cash drawer, took cash from within and fled the building.
Police said they could not find him Thursday morning, but video surveillance was able to provide pictures that were released to assist in locating him.
Detectives were called to the scene that morning and began investigating several leads and a suspect as developed within less than 24 hours. Attempts to find him, to that point however, were unsuccessful.
Saturday, an officer on routine patrol stopped at the Skate Park on Washington to approach a number of juveniles there, when a person matching the suspect's description ran from the group. The officer chased the subject and, with the assistance of another responding officer, was able to take him into custody. Police said the suspect was positively identified as the robber, and was transported for questioning.
Police arrested Cooper on a warrant for 2nd Degree Robbery and Felony Resisting Arrest. He was transported to Cole County Jail.
