KC district to unveil consultant recommendations next month
KANSAS CITY (AP) - A consultant hired to help the Kansas City school district come up with a plan for boosting student achievement and enrollment is presenting its findings next month.
The district hired the consulting firm MGT of America Inc. last fall to conduct an assessment. The effort involved gathering feedback from more than 2,500 parents, students and staff and community members.
The findings will be presented April 8 at a board workshop. The district plans to use the report to develop a five-year master plan. State education officials granted the district provisional accreditation in August, citing improvements in test scores. But state officials have expressed concerns that many students still aren't performing at high levels.
