KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities arrested 27 people on suspicion of driving under the influence in the Kansas City area on St. Patrick's Day.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 1,127 vehicles were stopped at a sobriety checkpoint in Kansas City's Westport area. The sobriety check-point was a joint effort with the Kansas City police and was determined by past arrests and traffic crashes.
In addition to the 27 DUIs, five people were also arrested on misdemeanor drug violations and two were arrested on misdemeanor warrants.
