KANSAS CITY (AP) — Police in Kansas City say a university security officer shot and killed a motorist who threatened him and others with a gun.
Officers responded Thursday afternoon to a report of an injury accident and shooting on a street beside the campus of Rockhurst University. They found a wounded man in his mid-20s. He died a short time later at a hospital.
Witnesses told police the man got out of a car after being involved in a two-vehicle accident and pointed a gun at several people who tried to help him.
Police say the man also pointed the gun at the Rockhurst security officer, who then shot the suspect. The suspect's name has not been released.
Rockhurst is a Jesuit institution located a few blocks from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
