KANSAS CITY (AP) - A teenager has been charged with killing a developmentally disabled man on a Kansas City street.
Jackson County prosecutors filed the second-degree murder and armed criminal action charge Friday against 17-year-old Landrain Miller. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.
The Kansas City Star reports that Miller is accused of killing Timothy Riley on Sept. 26. The 38-year-old was on his way home from his part-time job as a maintenance man for a Kansas City day care center when he was shot.
Witnesses reported seeing Riley being chased down the street by someone and fighting with the person before the shooting. The witnesses also said the attacker took items from Riley's pockets before running away.
Court documents say Miller told detectives he shot the victim accidentally.
