Kentucky gets the final slam against Mizzou
COLUMBIA - Grand slams were heard around the stadium.
The Kentucky Wildcats started the game with a 4-1 lead.
The next three innings were scoreless for the Tigers as the Wildcats picked up two more runs.
Down 6-1 at the top of the 5th, the Tigers began to rally.
With two runs in the 5th and and two in the 6th, the Tigers were able to tie the game.
Mizzou infielder Brian Sharp stepped up to bat and cleared the bases with a 7th inning grand-slam, giving the Tigers a 10-6 lead.
Then, the Wildcats became copycats.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, Kentucky's Kole Cottam also hit a grand-slam for the game winning runs.
"Just a real tough loss," Mizzou head coach Steve Bieser said. "We battled. One thing we have to be proud of is that we competed."
Bieser said that while things began to look up for the Tigers, there just wasn't enough "game-winning baseball" in the end to clench the win.
Kentucky took the series with a final 11-10 victory.
Mizzou will hit the road and play Tuesday, May 1st, against Iowa.
