Kicking With Kids
MARSHALL, MO - The Missouri Valley College men's and women's soccer teams welcomed in over 60 kids from Marshall and surrounding areas on Oct. 5 to teach the game of soccer.
Kids six to 12 years of age participated in the free youth camp at Gregg-Mitchell Field, learning the basic skills and techniques of the game of soccer from both the men's and women's teams at MVC.
The participants were then split up to learn the basic fundamentals and strategies of the varying positions on the field including keeper, defender, midfielder, and forward.
Men's Head Coach Vladimir Simic said, "It was great to have so many kids out for the camp. Everyone enjoyed working with them and teaching the game."
Women's Head Coach Drew Hawkins says, "It's really nice to get the programs involved with youth soccer players in the community. The players had a great time showing the kids how to play the sport."
The two teams plan on holding another free youth camp in the spring.
