KOMU 8 News travels to Gopher territory
MINNEAPOLIS - KOMU 8 News visited the land of 10,000 lakes to see what Minnesota fans thought about their chances of winning Thursday's Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl game.
University of Minnesota senior Muhammad Mire said he thinks playing in Minnesota's bitter cold temperatures has prepared the Gopher football players to compete in Florida.
"If you can withstand one extreme, I think you can withstand the other," Mire said.
The Golden Gophers finished 25th in the polls and posted a 8-4 record. Missouri is 4-3-1 against Minnesota, with the most recent meeting between the two being back in 1970.
Mike Baxter graduated from the University of Minnesota's business school in 1980. He said the team has become much more competitive since he attended the University.
"I have complete confidence and the remainder of the team," Baxter said. "At the time I attended the University I was not a huge football fan but I have since been resurrected."
The game will be played in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, January 1. Kick off is at 12 p.m. CST.
